Opticians VAT claims
AEL successfully completed one of the very first Opticians VAT claims in 1996.
Since then we have specialised in assisting independant Opticians agree VAT exemptions with Customs & Excise.
To date over £4.5 million of VAT has been repaid to our clients following claims for overpaid output tax. Added to this figure is the interest that Customs must pay practitioners when they have successfully claimed a repayment of prior years output VAT.
The VAT exemptions applicable to an independant Opticians practice depend upon a variety of criteria and each case should be judged on its own individual merits.
In recent times, Customs and Excise have become more aggressive in attacking what they see as overgenerous exemptions in place for Opticians.
It is therefore vital that practitioners obtain expert advice in defending their existing exemptions or seeking to improve upon their current exemptions.
We would be pleased to carry out an initial review of your practice's VAT position without obligation. Please contact either Marc Bennett or Andy Kontakkis.
